A work in progress

I tend to keep notebooks full of things that I may or may not develop, but one of the things that is taking shape and you may see sometime soon is a novel set around a Panther Girl tribe in the northern forests.

While the meta plot is still very much a work in progress, and the story itself is still at such a sketchy stage that I don't even have a name for the PoV Panther Girl narrator yet, I have established much of the background.

The feel of the novel will borrow heavily from the Last of the Mohicans with Panther Girl tribes taking the place of the various woodland indians in that book. Our PoV tribe begins the novel having seen better days. They are down to just seven girls and are being harassed and raided by a stronger panther tribe led by Tallia from the original Emma trilogy. To make matters worse the incursion of men into their area of the forest has grown over the last ten years forcing them deeper into the scarier regions of the forest where evil poltergeist spirits are said to lurk. Port Kar now has many logging camps close to the rivers providing much needed timber for ship building, and Cos is setting up military camps in the area to try and disrupt the logging areas that are vital to Port Kar interests, for Port Kar has no other reliable source of timber and if the supply from the northern forests is cut off then Port Kar will lose the arms race in ships against Cos. This colonial proxy war is being fought by these two Gorean super powers mostly with bands of mercenaries and some indigenous bands of panther girls employed as skirmishers.

You can probably spot the Last of the Mohican similarities here...

At the start of the novel our heroic panther girls have resisted the lure of siding with either Cos or Port Kar, which means they have the protection of neither city state in the forest conflict.

But they are suffering. They are hungry, they are hunted, and they have few friends or places of refuge.

But they remain strong and loyal to one another and they know the forests.

And in the words of the PoV narrator:

Men are predators. But then so am I. Let the men beware, for this is OUR land, not theirs.

    Tal Emma,

Until you mentioned that Tallia would be an antagonist I was going to say that Erin would be an interesting PoV character

    1. The PoV panther girl needs to be Gorean born, though I won't say why. :)

  2. You are a very talented writer and your various Gor novels are amongst the best, if not best, fan fiction that can be found on the Internet. It is obvious that your writing is a labor of love and that it is very time consuming. Although you undoubtedly receive the satisfaction of having written something excellent and of bringing pleasure to your readers, you are not receiving any monetary compensation.

A writer of your talent and imagination would have little problem creating an alternate world similar to the world of Gor, writing a novel, and then self publishing it on Amazon. In that way you would be monetarily rewarded for your efforts.

Just a suggestion from someone who finds himself going to his computer first thing every morning to read the latest Gor installment. Free or fare I won't stop reading.

    2. Thank you for your kind comments anonymous Master.

It's certainly true that if I was writing in an original 'universe' of my own creation that I could probably make some money from my writing, though as I'm the world's worst at publicising what I do, I'd probably have a rough time of getting anyone to notice what I'd written! For example it's a safe bet that probably 99% of readers who might be interested in these Gor novels probably don't know of their existence because I make a pitifully poor showing of trying to spread the word.

Having said that, if I wasn't writing in the Gor universe most of you would probably not have come across my work in the fist place. You're unlikely to have taken a chance on a Gor-like novel hidden away amongst ten thousand other self published 'erotica' books on Amazon. So it could be argued that writing in Mr Norman's world gives me a certain edge on finding readers – readers like you lovely lot. :)

I do actually have semi-complete or complete books that I could upload as e-books to Amazon with a bit of work to complete and polish them, but I just never get round to doing so, partly because I don't understand what's needed to do that kind of thing and because I'd have to do publicity and self promotion which I naturally hate doing. I have perhaps seven semi-complete erotica novels (no similarities to Gor though) of various genres – two of which I wrote during that fallow period last year to early this year when Chloe was working on pictures for Daughter of Gor and I didn't write any Gor material. I also have two 'superhero' novels with a female lead character, with a setting similar to the TV series/comic 'the Boys' – i.e. what would superheroes in the real world be like. And I have a notebook full of ideas for a Gor like series (by which I mean lots of slavery and bondage and a female PoV heroine who constantly gets into cliffhanger situations) set during the Byzantine empire which might appeal to readers who like historical erotic fiction full of slavery, but don't want sci-fi elements. That could easily be a money maker on Amazon, but whether I'll ever write it is another matter. I probably would do if I ever lost my job. You think i'm prolific now? This is me writing in my spare time outside of work and outside of a busy social life! Just imagine how prolific I'd be if I was able to write full time during the day! Those full time pulp magazine writers in the 1930s who churned out novels every month would look lazy compared to me!

    3. One of the things Emma and I have briefly discussed is a comic/illustrated story. There are other sites than Amazon which carry ebooks with more adult themes (some of them extremely adult)
Personally I'd love to do a story involving the training of a slave; something that'd be informative as well as entertaining.

      Tal Chloe,

A graphic novel is another interesting idea for sure. If you depart from a Gorean theme and all the copyright issues, there would be potential for some monetary recompense.

I also enjoy historical fiction. A Roman Empire setting would afford ample opportunity for "barbarian" slave girl action, with captives from Britannia, Gaul, Hispania or other parts of the Roman World. Perhaps there could be Amazons involved, rather than Panther Girls. There does seem to be quite a lot of interest out there in Roman Empire themed works of fiction.

  3. Tal Emma,

Its okay...you can kneel a bit more modestly if you want. Oh I see you want to stay in Nadu. No surprise there kajira. I certainly won't mind the view.

Anyway just a huge thank you for all your work in 2019. Really enjoy reading what you work so hard on for the rest of us. I prefer your work to the original novels (I know some will disagree with me but that if how I feel)

You deserve a long Bank Holiday off and we'll wait with baited breath ready for the next fab work of literature from you.

You can go to the furs now *anticipatory smirk followed by ankle check*

    1. Thank you, Master. I am enjoying the bank holiday sunshine, and I have a party to go to tonight, but I'm working as well. There are still a few chapters for Ubara that need writing, so i'm turning to them this weekend. I want at least one of the four remaining chapters complete by the end of the weekend. And possibly a chunk of one of the others. Ubara chapters btw are roughly four times as long as a Slave World chapter.

Oh, and... *extends ankle for ankle check*

  5. Tal Emmma,

Did you ever read 'Mistress of Gor' an online story in 2 chapters about an Earth woman on Gor who employed Panther girls to train enslaved men to become silk slaves?

    Google it easy to find.

    1. Just found it now. Like most Gor fanfic the writer gives up after a dozen or so pages. That's one of the reasons I wanted to produce complete novels. Most Gor fanfic on the net is simply snapshot scenes, usually of a straight forward erotic nature without the accompanying storyline. Having said that the Mistress of Gor story (which comes up higher in the google search results than my own magnum opus! Grrrr....) has an interesting premise. I don't really buy into the idea that a handful of Panther girls could control dozens of unchained Gorean male slaves who used to be warriors in the written scene shown, but obviously the writer here has a different take on Gor than I do. I portray Gorean male slaves as similar to caged leopards - never really tamed and liable to kill you if you step into their cage. You don't really take any risks with them if you're a woman. But the basic idea of using panther girls to train the men is a nice one.

    2. Tal Emma,

If we all Google mistress of Gor then click on your work for the next few days repeatedly then yours should rise to the top.
